“Environmental sustainability” may get lots of political and media attention but there is no current federal law that requires Canadian businesses to lessen their impact on the environment. Instead, Top Marks is doing it on a voluntary basis, learning as we go. After all, our business is about building future generations – and we share your determination to treat our planet with respect in order to leave it as clean and green as possible!
To that end, Top Marks has partnered with the people at Bleu Innovation, who specialize in formulating sustainable development programs for companies that are concerned about issues like climate change.

Top Marks is proud to announce that we have achieved a “carbon neutral” status for the year 2010. Bleu Innovation analyzed our operations and drew up a carbon balance sheet that tallied our emissions for that year. Based on the results, Top Marks purchased enough credits in projects that reduce greenhouse gases in order to fully offset our own.
We invested in credits that support Forest Restoration programs in both
Maple Ridge, British Columbia, as well as
Chicoutimi, Quebec. These programs focus on planting trees as a method of offsetting greenhouse gas emissions.

With the help of Bleu Innovation, we’re working hard to expand our corporate environmental policy and make our offices and factories even “greener”. We know that everything we do makes a difference – the blue recycling bins already under every desk, the order forms and information pamphlets that we send out online rather than by mail and our switch to lighting that’s both bright and energy efficient. We also know that we have to continue searching for other ways to become more environmentally friendly and responsible. That is our promise.
